Usain Bolt signs MASSIVE deal with Puma.. smdh!

25 Aug

If you read any of my past posts on Usain Bolt, you know how excited I am about him.   I cheered for him through the entire Olympics and don’t care that I’m not Jamaican.  The man is a prodigy.  Usain has brought that fire and excitement back to track and field that we haven’t seen since the late Flo Jo with her funky nails and track gear.  He’s the fastest man on the planet and he may have just become the fastest runner on the planet too.   Reports say that PUMA, who has been backing Bolt since he was 15, put something close to $32.5 million behind him.  Along with that, they’re creating a clothing line with his infamous trademark stance he poses in  at the end of all his races as the emblem.  I love PUMA and I love Usain…I’m like a kid in a candy store right now.  Lightning strikes again.

A New Face in Gaming?

18 Jul

Living most of my life in my hometown of Boston, I never got to experience a black college football game until I moved to Atlanta.  I learned immediately that there were “classic” rivalry games that take place every year in Atlanta that are a must go to event.  My first game was most definitely an experience.

The video game industry is nearly a 40 Billion dollar industry.  But the one thing that’s missing is diversity.  Less than 2% of the developers and owners are African American.

Jacqueline Beauchamp, CEO of Nerjyzed Entertainment, pronounced like “Energized”, joined this industry to hopefully change that.  Nerjyzed is the first African American owned gaming studio to create a game for a major console.  Black College Football the Experience, also known as BCFX, can be experienced on XBOX 360.  If you are a current student, former student or have just attended an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) football game then you should know what BCFX is all about.  It’s a wonderful marriage of football, rhythm based music, halftime shows that’ll blow you away and phenomenal drumlines.  Consumers can also learn more about HBCU’s and what great football players came from them such as Jerry Rice who attended Mississippi Valley State and Walter Payton who was an Jackson State University alumni.

But just because it’s a game that focuses on the black college experience doesn’t mean it’s only for African Americans.  If you love football, gaming and music, then this game is for you.  Black College Football the Experience can be purchased anywhere games are sold.  For more information on the game and Nerjyzed Entertainment http://video.blackenterprise.com/services/player/bcpid1670081878?bctid=54970702001

Queen James: Diary of a wanna be MILF

25 May

Where do I even begin?  We’ve all heard by now the rumors of Lebron James mother, Gloria James, having sex with Lebron’s teammate, Delonte West.  Just typing that foolishness makes me break into laughter.  I initially just blew it off but to many “official” people are confirming the story.  Not to talk about this man’s mother, but I can’t wrap my mind around why this young man would want her *ouch*.  Yeah, that was foul but I said it.   He has the baddest groupies in the world clinging to his sac and one night he says to himself “forget that bad ass 21 year-old who scaled the wall of my hotel and snuck into my room.  I’m gonna f*ck Lebron’s mom!”  It doesn’t make any sense.  Then I thought of the Destiny’s Child Syndrome, DCS.  Yes, I gave it an acronym.    Kelly and Michelle practically were seen as backup singers.  I remember watching them on the red carpet and a camera man called Kelly by the name of one of the former members!  He didn’t even know Kelly’s name.  I don’t care what anyone says, Kelly and Michelle spent nights in envious fury trying to find a way to take B out.  But you see where I’m going with this?

You have a team of players that are non-existent to the world.  They are the Kelly’s and Michelle’s of Beyonce’s Child I mean Destiny’s Child.  How much more can a rich, young, immature man take playing second fiddle?  King James this. King James that.  Antawn who? Lebron AND the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Lebron is the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Delonte who? The only man on the team that counts is Lebron James. MARSHA! MARSHA! MARSHA!  I can SO see Delonte sleeping with this man’s mother out of spite, envy and jealousy.

“Yeah, you’re the King but I f*cked your moms.”  There’s nothing that tops that.  She has completely emasculated Lebron.  But if this is true, I’m almost not as mad at Delonte as I am with Gloria.  Come one Mama James?  Delonte West?  Really?!?  You couldn’t have picked maybe one of the cute ones?  Just kidding.  This whole things stinks to high hell.  She has to be the most evil or the most stupid  bish in the North Central region of the United States.  Just like I can’t wrap my mind around him wanting to sex her up, I can’t wrap my mind why she would do it.

I can see it now.  Lebron is on the court playing and fouls someone.  Words are exchanged and then all we hear is “that’s why Delonte effed your mother!”

Lebron is caught by the paparazzi and gives them a hard time about taking pictures…”that’s why Delonte effed your mother!”

Lebron is at Wal-Mart and tries to make his entrance and exit as discreet as possible.  He’s almost clear until 10 year-old Billy Bob catches him at the exit.  “Hey Lebron! Can I get your autograph?”  Lebron apologetically declines because he doesn’t want to cause a scene.  “That’s why I effed your mother!” Billy says.

Do you see how ugly this can get?  Lebron will be 73 years-old and that will still be the running joke.  Lets hope this is truly just a rumor.  What a #epicfail if it’s not.  SMGDH!

Lawrence Taylor arrested for rape

7 May

Former New York Giants linebacker and Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was arrested for an alleged rape.

But it gets worse. *sigh*

The victim is 16-years old.  The police are saying Rasheed Davis, believed to be her pimp, met the runaway at a bus stop back in March.  He moves her in, as they usually do and she becomes his “property”.  Thursday he drives the teen against her will to Taylor’s room at the Holiday Inn where she is told to have sex with him.  Rasheed hands her over to Taylor after she refuses and Taylor hands over $300.  SMH.

I hope this isn’t true but it’s not looking good for my man Taylor.  While this “exchange” was taking place the teen was texting her uncle for help spelling out EXACTLY what was happening.  Modern day technology will get your ass hemmed up.

But I need some questions answered.

Did he know she was a minor?

Did he know this douche bag, Rasheed Davis?

All the FREE LEGAL NON-RESISTANT  booty he probably still gets thrown at him by groupies, why is he taking it and paying for it?

Furthermore..what the hell is he doing at the Holiday Inn?  :-/

I’m just saying…*shrugs*

Dreams, Diversity and Hope on the Ice

6 May

They say that the children are the future.  The seeds we plant in them today are directly correlated with what kind of trees they grow into tomorrow.  If the wrong seeds are planted or not enough are planted then we can expect a Decidous tree, which sheds and loses its foliage at the end of its growing cycle or we plant enough of the right seeds to produce the Evergreen tree, whose foliage persists and remains green throughout their life expectancy.

Budget cuts are happening across the country.  Every state, city and county is feeling the squeeze of the economy.  The money is just not there anymore.  We would like to hope that our elected officials are doing any and everything in an attempt to avoid the cuts.  Or at least making sure that cuts are made in the appropriate places.  It’s hard to think that’s the case when we see fire stations closing, schools closing and cops being taken off of some of the most dangerous streets in the country.  But cutting those seeds we need to plant will only ensure that some of those most dangerous streets, stay dangerous.  It’s a cycle. Taking opportunity away from a child will only make their possibilities bleak.

This is what’s happening right now in the Upper West Side and Harlem areas of New York.  Riverbank Hockey is a youth ice hockey program that teaches recreational skating to children from all walks of life.  Children from ages 5-14, from black to Asian, from Jewish to Muslim, from lower class to upper class, are taught how to skate and eventually how to play hockey.  The seeds that are being planted are teamwork, direction, fitness and discipline.  They are being given seeds of self-confidence, respect for themselves and each other, commitment and character and hard work.  Riverbank Hockey is bringing children together who probably under no other circumstance would have an opportunity to learn the sport.  Riverbank Hockey is introducing children to the ice when they probably have so many opportunities to be introduced to the streets.  All this is being taken away.

Apparently the parks business is a business.  And with like any other business, if it’s not putting money in the pocket of the powers-that-be, then it’s chopped up as a loss.  New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, Historic Preservation upcoming budget cuts will be the demise of the Riverbank Hockey Program.  It will send children with nowhere else to go, out in the cold.    That’s a bigger loss than any profit-loss statement can ever show.

To help keep these kids on the ice you MUST act now.  Call and write Governor David Paterson, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Democratic Conference Leader John Sampson.

More Media Double Standards for Big Ben

10 Mar

Well, well, well.  What do we have here?  ANOTHER sexual assault claim on good ole Big Ben.  Oh, you forgot about that first one, didn’t you?  Yeah, you would since it was SWEPT UNDER THE RUG.  It amazes me that Ben Roethlisberger can be accused 2 times of sexual assault and there’s barely a buzz about it.   It also amazes me the people who will read this and say that I don’t know what I’m talking about and will refuse to admit that there isn’t a CLEAR difference on how this is being handled and sexual assaults, infidelity or other criminal activity that has been committed or allegedly committed by athletes of color.

To catch you up, Big Ben has been accused by a college student in a town called Milledgeville, GA of sexually assaulting her in a nightclub.  Why he’s in a nightclub in Milledgeville, GA, which is predominately a “college town”, is beyond me.  That’s like me going to Boston to club in the area near Fenway Park which is surrounded by Simmons College, Mass College of Pharmacy, Emmanuel College and a few feet from there, Boston University, just to name a few.  If someone in their 30s is clubbing with 18-20 year olds, your behavior is questionable.  I’m sorry.  Don’t shoot me.  I’m just the messenger.

But back to the point.  As I do a google search for Ben Roethlisberger there are just a few hits about this assault.  Most of them blogs or repeat postings from the same source, i.e. TMZ home page and TMZ page 1 of the actual article.  When I go to page 2 of this google search, it’s the same thing.  There are a few posts about both accusations.

When I go to CNN.com; no front page headline.

When I go to NBC.com, there’s a small thumbnail on the left side that you practically miss.

When I go to ESPN.com, there’s nothing on the front page.

When I looked at the front pages of a few national newspapers in the last couple of days, I didn’t see Big Ben’s face all over it.

It’s only a few days after the accusation.  So where’s the around the clock coverage?

So I do a google search of Kobe Bryant’s assault.  Virtually all the posts up to page 10 were from news reports.  I do a google search of Tiger Woods cheating “scandal”, HUNDREDS of posts from the media.  Think back to Mike Tyson’s sexual assault accusation.  Tiger received “breaking news coverage” week after week.  Coverage that could have been used to help find missing children, murderers and the changes in our healthcare.  But Ben?  No.

This is the issue I have with the media.  The blatant double standards.  The media has always perpetuated the negative image of black athletes and sugar coat issues with white athletes.  There’s no urgency to keep something negative going when it comes to Ben, but Tiger Woods was practically forced into seclusion because he cheats.   There were reports that the chick in the Kobe case had sex with other men on the same day as Kobe.  But that still wasn’t enough for the media to stop putting Kobe’s face on the cover of every newspaper or on the front page of every website.

Does anyone remember the very LITTLE coverage that Americas favorite player from the ’American as apple pie” team, Boston Red Sox, Roger Clemons got regarding steroids usage compared to the treatment of Barry Bonds accusations?

Remember how bad the media talked about Lebron James for not shaking the hands of his opponents that beat him in the playoffs?  Remember how little they talked about Indiana Colts QB, Peyton Manning doing THE SAME EXACT THING when he took the “L” at the Superbowl?

I bet most of you don’t remember Dany Heatly driving his Ferrari at 100mph on a rural road, killing his teammate, Dan Snyder.  They refused to release his blood alcohol count.  Sounds like a cover up.  Oh, and he’s still a professional hockey player.

Todd Bertuzzi assaulted another hockey player on the ice that left him PARALYZED.  Speaking of hockey, they’re allowed to violently fight each other and its the “glory” part of the game.  When players in the NBA or NFL fight, they are called thugs by nearly every news reporter or sportscaster on TV.

I bet you naysayers and you people who can’t wait to say I’m using the infamous “race card” have an excuse for every example, don’t you?  THERE IS NONE!  There are double standards when it comes to what athlete can do what and when.  The media wants to keep the negative image of black men in heavy rotation in the minds of Americans by force feeding the negative images as many times as possible but lightly covering cases or incidents that other athletes are involved in.  This systematic perpetuation of the “evil black man” does nothing for race relations, if you even care for it.  I’m around black men everyday that have NEVER been to prison.  I’m around black men everyday that have NEVER sold drugs.  I’m around black men everyday that have NEVER been arrested.  I’m around black men that have graduated from college.

Oh and I bet you barely remember the buzz that Myron Rolle got for choosing the Rhodes Scholarship over the NFL.  Had he been breaking into someones house, selling drugs, raping a girl or smoking weed in his Cadillac Escalade, you would have been all over that.  You won’t perpetuate that image of a young black athlete wanting to help the needy more than getting a million dollar NFL contract, will you?

2010 NBA All-Star Weekend: Slam Dunk Contest

15 Feb

It’s All-Star weekend in Dallas, TX.  From what I hear, everything is big in Texas.  Except for this slam dunk contest.  This contest is the highlight for the weekend for most people.  It was especially a highlight when we all thought Lebron James was participating for the first time.  We were all disappointed to find out he backed out a couple of weeks ago.  But that’s neither here nor there.

Two-time winner Nate Robinson was up for his 2nd win in a row and 3rd overall win.  Something that Michael Jordan has never accomplished  nor Julius Erving. It was thought that Lebron would stop Robinson from getting his 3rd win but  now we’ll never know.  Nate’s challengers were a bit less notable than Lebron.  Gerald Wallace, DeMar DeRozen and Shanon Brown had big shoes to fill.  Gerald and Shanon falling out those shoes very easily.  Overall, the slam dunk contest was a bore.  Robinson did not go all out like in the past and used some pom-poms as props.  DeMar stepped it up a little and dunked over one of his teammates as he stood at the 3-point line.  Oh wait.  Robinson did that exact same dunk last year.  How original.

When the boring dust cleared, Nate Robinson became the only man in NBA history to have 3 All-Star Slam Dunk Contest wins.  Not sure how big a deal this is since all the competition didn’t compete.  At least Charles Barkley kept me awake with his rants.
