One more wedding and people will think this is a marriage blog.  But how can the Bomb Squad here forget about the most important wedding, our favorite former President (please note I’m being sarcastic) baby girls big day?

Because I care less about the Clintons and their homely looking daughter, I never paid attention to anything regarding Chelsea let alone who she’s dating.  But I do remember saying to myself back when EVERY news station reported their engagement, “dang, his last name sounds familiar”.  Naturally with their wedding being the “wedding of all weddings”, hearing his name again made me look him up and I was right, his name was familiar for a reason.

Chelsea’s beau, Marc Mezvinsky, is the son of Edward Mezvinsky, former Iowa Congressman and convicted felon.  See, Ed, scammed over $10 million from people using the good ole email method.  His defense was *drum roll* “I was suffering from a mental illness.”  HA!  Good one. 

I guess birds of a feather flock together *shrugs*

They actually do look very happy and mark this in your calendar, but I think she looks absolutely wonderful.  Vera Wang and Burberry never looked so good together.  Here are the new Mr. and Mrs. Mezvinsky:

Costs: Rumored to be a $5-10 million dollar wedding.  I wonder if any of that $10 million Ed stole helped?  Let me stop and leave these love birds alone.  I don’t want to take away from their beautiful day.. I guess

When I hear reports of 60,000 barrells of oil are spilling into the ocean a day, it pisses me off.  Our water, our wildlife, our citizens well-being is out the window.  What pisses me off even more are the lies.   I was born on a Tuesday… but not LAST Tuesday.  I hate being talked to like I’m Boo-Boo the Fool.  How we went from a couple of thousands of barrells to now 60,000 is beyond me.  Actually, it’s not.  They merely just lied.   Everyone who jumped on the anti-Obama wagon because of his initial response to the spill negated to hold BP responsible for the information, well the lack of, they gave the Obama administration.  Let us also not forget that the Federal Government’s job on regulating this industry has been disasterous WAY before Obama got into office.   The same people that make sure this industry is lucrative are the same people that make sure what takes place is done ethically.  Talk about a god damn conflict of interest.

3 regulatory changes were made within 24 hours before this disaster.  One of them being approved within 5 minutes of the request.  There were corners being cut, period.  This in itself is criminal negligence.  If I decide to drive 100 mph on a 55mph road all to get to work 20 minutes earlier and in that process I run over and kill 17 people, take out the fire hydrant, Fido who was taking a leak at that hydrant, a park bench and bus stop stand, how am I not criminally responsible for those deaths and that damage?

The failure to use reasonable care to avoid consequences that threaten or harm the safety of the public and that are the foreseeable outcome of acting in a particular manner.

That’s the legal definition of “criminal negligence”.

But what boils my blood even more is the money that our government is spending behind this mess.  As tight as we are on cash, we now have to spend money on a man made disaster.  A disaster rooted in greed.   Obama is making BP set aside $20 Billion but that’s not enough.  We will pay for this even more in the long run someway.  Whether it’s skyrocketed oil rates, oil rich countries benefitting, operational cost..whatever.  These douchebags at BP should not only set aside the $20 Billion, but they should payback whatever we’ve already paid, future damages and future future damages.  If that means BP collapses, oh-f*cking-well!

Then there’s the smoking gun:  BP and Goldman sold off 35%  and 44% of their shares before the explosion.  POW!

Far Right Christian Group Warns That “Gay Blood” Will Destroy Our Military If DADT Is Repealed

The right has been girding for a fight to defend the military’s discriminatory “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT) policy after the White House and some members of Congress reached an agreement this week that will likely repeal it. House Republicans are “preparing to mount a vigorous defense” of the policy, Sen. John McCain is threatening a filibuster, and right-wing Christian groups are pressuring conservative lawmakers to toe the party line.

Today, right-wing hate-monger Cliff Kincaid’s group America’s Survival launched a repulsive fear campaign against repeal, warning that “disease-tainted gay blood threatens our troops.”  The group’s abhorrent video — and the 60 page report that accompanies it — present ludicrous stereotypes of gay men and women, going so far as to claim that “open and active homosexuals into the U.S. military could very well result in the spreading of deadly HIV-tainted blood throughout the ranks”

Of course, all would-be soldiers undergo mandatory HIV screening and are not allowed to serve if they are found to be positive. Kincaid mentions this, but as Joe.My.God noted, the press release “cites the singular example of an HIV-positive soldier infecting a 17 year-old male he met in a chat room. Because if it happened ONCE out of all those millions of soldiers…”

Kincaid goes on to warn that repealing DADT will lead to “transgendered individuals who want to dress up as members of the opposite sex and would cry ‘discrimination’ if they are not allowed to do so.” Ignoring the fact that service members of both genders often wear identical uniforms, Kincaid’s only example of this allegedly real threat is a fictional character from the TV show MASH.

TPM notes that, in a separate bit of right-wing hate mongering, the Family Research Council is warning that repealing DADT “will turn the U.S. military into a terrifying free-rape zone” where straight service members “will be fellated in their sleep against their will” and commanders are powerless to resist.

SMGDH!

People can’t be that stupid and ignorant at the same time, can they?  Most importantly, why is this still a topic?  We’re still on the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” in 2010?!?  No other President before Obama had thoughts of putting this on the chopping block before today?!

DADT at its best, is some ignorant bullshit.  Someone is willing to risk their life to protect this country from harm that WE probably started in the first place, someone is willing to DIE for the freedom of his or her fellow citizens and all that’s out the window because the person is gay?  Somehow the possibility of death for protecting the country is insignificant because of the hate one breeds towards gays.  First you didn’t want blacks in the military, you didn’t want women, now gays.  What’s next?  If your 2nd toe is longer than your big toe, DADT.

And you religious, bible toting, zealots.  Straight service members will be sexed while they’re sleep against their will?!?!  Are you kidding me?!!  This sounds like this CHRISTIAN’S group unilateral wet dream.  Out of respect of readers choice to practice whatever religion they want, I’m going to keep my thoughts to myself because some of yall KILL me.  Plus I don’t JUDGE.  Don’t you remember that verse in the good book?

They say that the children are the future.  The seeds we plant in them today are directly correlated with what kind of trees they grow into tomorrow.  If the wrong seeds are planted or not enough are planted then we can expect a Decidous tree, which sheds and loses its foliage at the end of its growing cycle or we plant enough of the right seeds to produce the Evergreen tree, whose foliage persists and remains green throughout their life expectancy.

Budget cuts are happening across the country.  Every state, city and county is feeling the squeeze of the economy.  The money is just not there anymore.  We would like to hope that our elected officials are doing any and everything in an attempt to avoid the cuts.  Or at least making sure that cuts are made in the appropriate places.  It’s hard to think that’s the case when we see fire stations closing, schools closing and cops being taken off of some of the most dangerous streets in the country.  But cutting those seeds we need to plant will only ensure that some of those most dangerous streets, stay dangerous.  It’s a cycle. Taking opportunity away from a child will only make their possibilities bleak.

This is what’s happening right now in the Upper West Side and Harlem areas of New York.  Riverbank Hockey is a youth ice hockey program that teaches recreational skating to children from all walks of life.  Children from ages 5-14, from black to Asian, from Jewish to Muslim, from lower class to upper class, are taught how to skate and eventually how to play hockey.  The seeds that are being planted are teamwork, direction, fitness and discipline.  They are being given seeds of self-confidence, respect for themselves and each other, commitment and character and hard work.  Riverbank Hockey is bringing children together who probably under no other circumstance would have an opportunity to learn the sport.  Riverbank Hockey is introducing children to the ice when they probably have so many opportunities to be introduced to the streets.  All this is being taken away.

Apparently the parks business is a business.  And with like any other business, if it’s not putting money in the pocket of the powers-that-be, then it’s chopped up as a loss.  New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, Historic Preservation upcoming budget cuts will be the demise of the Riverbank Hockey Program.  It will send children with nowhere else to go, out in the cold.    That’s a bigger loss than any profit-loss statement can ever show.

It doesn’t sound so good when you read it, does it?  Or maybe it does sound good to the supporters of what’s happening in Arizona.  I figured it would sound good to you pricks.

Last week Arizona Governor signed Senate Bill 1070 into law making it a state crime to be in the United States illegally.  I’m not even going to touch the issue of whether a state can make laws on federal issues.  That’s not even important compared to the real issue that’s at hand.   This law allows someone to be stopped for no reason and if they do not have their documents on them, they can be arrested.

If this isn’t racial profiling at its best, then what is?

Most people that agree to this bull have either never experienced racism, are racists themselves or have assimilated to this countries maniacal behavior regarding race.  History is repeating itself here.  We have rich white people telling brown people that they’re not wanted here when it was THEIR LAND FROM THE BEGINNING.  Most of you that are in denial about racism will take that sentence and somehow turn it into an attack of all white people on the planet.  That is not the case.  But is it not true that this country’s history of race related issues has always been rich white men telling all “others” that they are not wanted?  That is a fact.

What’s being said right now in Arizona has been said about the Polish, the Jews, Blacks, the Irish and others over the history of this country.  “Go back to where you came from.” “Get out of here Jew.” “Go back to Africa nigger.”   We are punishing people that are participating in a system that WE created… well not me, but this government and these corporations.  They “bring” people here or invite people here for cheap labor, get them on this “American Dream” wave, then bend them over and give it to them with no vaseline.  The contributions of illegal immigrants is immeasurable.  You get all that you can from them at costs that no legal citizen would dare work for and now you want to throw them out like trash?

I can’t believe…well I take that back, I do believe because I’m clearly aware of institutionalized racism, but a law like this in 2010, all of you need to be ashamed!  If you in anyway think this stops just with Mexicans, or will not create an environment of cultural hostility, or will not permeate to other states, you’re more stupid than I thought.

Michelle Obama is launching a nation-wide anti-obesity campaign for children.

Several people have criticized her for making the comment, that she too has dealt with this issue since their pediatrician told them that Malia and Sasha were heading towards being overweight.  Critics are saying that she is placing her children under the unnecessary microscope that can lead them to possibly having an eating disorder in the future. We all know that former President’s daughters were not excused from ridicule.
I believe that if anyone can balance it out, it is Michelle Obama. By using her own daughters, she will be able to speak from first-hand experience.
Obesity in America is at an all time high. A third of America’s children are obese. Working mom’s are apt to give their children fast-food due to a busy schedule. Unfortunately there aren’t that many healthy options in fast food. Children are also not as active as they use to be due to video games and computers. As a busy working mom, Mrs. Obama is an excellent candidate for shedding light on this issue.

The past week or so it’s been rough for entertainers, athletes and politicians.  We got Kanye jumping on stage having a tissy fit, Serena threatening balls down throats and Wilson calling the Prez a liar on the Congress floor.  Of course, the usual comes right afterwards, the I’m Sorry World Tour.  This kills me.  Who made the rule that they need to go to every network and apologize?  I personally don’t think Kanye did anything bad.  So what he expressed that Beyonce should have won.  Serena, she was out of line.  You can’t go around threatening to “come over there and shove this ball down your throat.”  I get that.  As for Wilson, this one is a little different.  I believe certain places and people deserve a little more respect than the norm.  The President is talking, the world is watching and this prick on the Congress floor is calling him a liar.  WTH?!   But what kills me even more are the people in the general public who think THEY need to be apologized to.  Kanye and Serena don’t owe us anything.  They don’t owe the public an apology.   We have all been upset at something and said something out of anger.   We have all wanted to tell the people at Oscars, VMA’s, Grammys, ESPYs “why the hell did you give that award to that person?” but you don’t have the guts to do it, so Kanye did.  Who the hell do you guys think you are?  The only people Kanye and Serena need to apologize to are the people or person involved in the incident.  PERIOD.   Stop thinking you are owed something or need to be made ‘whole’ by some damn entertainer.  GET A LIFE!
